A Day at the Races: What to Wear to Century Downs

Home / Editor's choice / A Day at the Races: What to Wear to Century Downs

Century Downs Racetrack and Casino is practically in our backyard, bringing a whole new (old?) meaning to a day at the races.  With exciting horse races on weekends, holidays, and Mondays, Century Downs has brought back horse racing in a big way.  Standardbred Racing will continue throughout the summer, and Thoroughbred Racing comes on September 23rd.  Of course, you can place a bet or two to make your stake in the race that much more exciting.  Coming early or staying late?  Century Downs is also a casino with slots, electronic table games, and a restaurant, so you can make a day of it!

But what does one wear to a horse race, exactly?  Well really anything you want, but why settle on average for such an extraordinary event?  The races make for an excellent date or pal day, and it’s even funner when you take it up a notch and get all dressed up for the occasion.  Why not treat yourself like royalty and go fancy?  Of course, The Store Upstairs has some ideas for just what that might look like.

Classy Chic

Can we stop for a second just to admire how remarkable that hat is?  It just exudes class.  And the flow of the floral-print dress looks good on pretty much anyone.  Put this outfit on and find yourself on a whole new level, looking and feeling like a million bucks.

Blue Babe

Again with the hat! The sheer fabric of the hat totally compliments the straight cut and colour of the dress, and that clutch purse just adds that extra oomph to the whole ensemble.  You don’t need to be Kate Middleton to look like royalty, you just need this combo.

Wine is Fascinator-ing

If you really want to channel your inner royalty, there’s no better way to do so than with a kick-butt fascinator (that’s the tiny hat that you fasten to your hair).  This peachy cream dress is perfectly paired with black accents and a simple necklace to bring a sense of elegance.  You’ll feel ready for an afternoon of whimsy, and whimsy pairs perfectly with wine.

Peaches and Cream

Sticking with the fascinator theme, this outfit boasts a longer, flowing skirt and cream top that instantly makes you think of warm days and high tea.  The fascinator is a headband for ultimate ease, and the whole look is pulled together by that silver clutch.  You’ll look like you were born for the races, even if you have no idea what’s going on.

Make your Century Downs day at the races a fun and classy adventure!  Stop on by and we’ll be happy to help you look the part.  We’ll see you soon!
